In 2007, at the age of 46, I bought some paint, a canvas, and a couple of brushes, and began creating my first painting. When finished, my initial thought was, I am definitely not the second coming of Leonardo da Vinci. My second thought was, WHAT A RELIEF! I thoroughly enjoyed painting this picture, now understanding that I could be as lousy as I could possibly be, without trepidation, and get on with the business of having fun.
I adamantly believe that no one should have to be amazing at something to be able to enjoy doing it. I also believe that not knowing “how” to paint…not being burdened by the need to paint “correctly,” but rather having the freedom to create purely by instinct, was in many ways a golden ticket to ultimate creative liberation.
It has now been twenty years since my creative maiden voyage. I just completed my 102nd painting. If my work inspires others to fearlessly create, how wonderful this would be.

Bruno Marcotulli is a transplant from Los Angeles California. Growing up in Hollywood in the 60’s, Bruno enjoyed the many splendored dynamics of this legendarily creative city. After graduating from Loyola Marymount University, which he attended on a basketball scholarship, Bruno entered the world of showbiz, studying and pursuing acting with notable success. Bruno was also a teacher for over 20 years. A rich life on so many levels cannot be condensed into a few words, but suffice it to say that Bruno has enjoyed many pursuits, including painting, which he undertook in his mid 40’s. Now 67, Bruno continues to live a dynamic and creative existence in this gloriously beautiful Southern Oregon paradise with his lovely wife Kelly.
